The GAPS Diet, or GAPS Nutritional Protocol rebuilds a damaged gut using animal fats and proteins, homemade probiotic foods, seasonal fruits and vegetables, nourishing liquids and a variety of lifestyle-based detoxification methods so that you can heal the root cause of your disease. GAPS is an acronym for Gut & Psychology/ Physiology Syndrome. The protocol was created by Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride, it became famous for reversing autism diagnosis in children, and spread around the world (mostly by mothers! yeah!). Since then, the protocol has supported hundreds of thousands of people with varying conditions all which have a root in the gut.

 

The GAPS Nutritional Protocol uses…

  • The most important part of the protocol. Pastured Animal Fats and Proteins, Pastured Eggs, Organ Meats, Fermented Dairy, Seasonal Fruits & Vegetables, Homemade Fermented Foods, Properly Prepared Nuts and Seeds, Raw Unfiltered Honey

  • A short list of helpful (mostly food-derived/based) supplements that expedite healing and address years of nutritional deficiencies.

Simplifying “The GAPS Spectrum”

Since its initial ideation, the GAPS diet has evolved to help more people, with more severe, complex or nuanced symptoms. There is a full spectrum to the GAPS diet including: Full GAPS, GAPS Introduction Diet, No Plant GAPS, More Plant GAPS and GAPS Ketogenic Diet.

 
  • Full GAPS

    Full GAPS is the easiest protocol to implement with the longest list of “allowed foods.” The full GAPS diet provides a lot of healing and nourishing foods and it is an great protocol for life-long implementation.

  • GAPS Intro

    GAPS intro protocol introduces foods in an order starting with the easiest to digest to the most difficult to digest. People with severe digestion or mental health issues usually need to implement the intro protocol at some point in their life to resolve symptoms fully.

  • More Plants GAPS

    Some people feel better consuming more plants, and these people follow more-plant GAPS to reverse their symptoms on GAPS

  • Ketogenic GAPS

    Works well for people with a cancer diagnosis, lyme disease, and other serious health conditions.

  • No-Plants GAPS

    Some people need to use No-Plant GAPS when both Full GAPS and GAPS Intro are not resolving chronic issues.
